Settings

Breadcrumb Settings are used to:

  • Define where to display breadcrumb navigation on your WordPress web site
  • Whether to provide breadcrumb information to search engines, for possible inclusion in search engine results.

In the WordPress Administration interface, click on WP Simple SEO > Breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs Addon: Menu

Can’t see the Breadcrumb settings option in the WordPress Administration menu? You need to complete the Addon Installation first.

General

The General tab allows you to define where breadcrumbs are output within the general structure of your WordPress Theme, which applies to the entire site:

Breadcrumbs Addon: General

  • Separator Symbol: The symbol to use between breadcrumb items in breadcrumb lists.
  • Output on Action / Filter Hook: If your theme uses WordPress Actions, the Breadcrumbs Addon can output breadcrumbs at the point the specified Action is executed.  This is useful if, for example, your theme has a WordPress action below the header of your Theme, which is where you would like to output breadcrumbs.
  • Output after HTML Element: If your theme does not use WordPress Actions, the Breadcrumbs Addon can use Javascript to output breadcrumbs after a specific HTML element. This isn’t the best method for SEO or accessibility, but provides the most control over where breadcrumbs are output.
Unsure which Action / Filter Hook or HTML Element to use?  Contact Support with your web site URL, and we can advise to the precise settings that you need.
